Typical Daily Activities

Children in residential services typically follow this schedule:

6:15 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Early Morning Routine

 

 

-getting prepared for school
-eating breakfast
-completing room care & personal hygiene skills

7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Attend Alternative Education Program

   

(Special Education teachers work in classroom settings by age groups, but within homogeneous grouping abilities. Students receive individualized reading and math instruction with reading or math specialists.

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Attend Day Treatment Program

   

Participate in group therapy, living skills groups, recreational therapy, and individual therapy at least once per week, and meeting with psychiatrist at least once per month.

2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Transportation back to residential units.

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Participation in one or more of the following with staff:

   

-Programmed activities*
-watching tv/listening to music
-discussing events of day
-completing daily job
-laundry
-1:1 discussion with staff
-use sign out privileges

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Study Hour, supervised and structured by staff.

5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Eating dinner with staff

6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Evening group meeting to review individual programs, upcoming events

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Participation in one or more of the following with staff:

   

-programmed activities*
-laundry
-1:1 discussion with assigned staff
-completing daily job
-board games
-reading
-use of privileges

8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Pre-Lights out routines

   

-snacks
-completing hygiene routines
(showering, getting ready for bed)
-1:1 discussion with staff
-watching tv

9:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Quiet time

10:00 p.m.

Bedtime and lights out

*Programmed activities include recreational, educational, social, cultural, vocational activities which promote personal and interpersonal development, social development, and life skills. These are scheduled in the community and on-grounds.
