Enhanced Foster Care
Enhanced Foster Care is a program for children, youth and their families whose special needs can be met in a family setting. Services are delivered by foster parents who are trained, supervised and supported by agency staff, and provide unconditional care for the foster children.
Specialized Foster Care homes are also available to clients with sexually aggressive behaviors. These homes feature foster parents intensely trained in the behaviors associated with sexually aggressive behavior.**
Our foster parents receive initial training which includes, first aid, CPR and Safe Crisis Management, as well as ongoing training monthly. Beacon Light foster parents receive on average up to 8 times the number of annual training hours than traditional county supervised foster families. This allows our families to care for clients wih more intensive needs in a less restrictive environment.
Children are appropriate for foster care as a step down from a more intensive placement such as residential treatment, or when a more intensive placement is not called for and their needs can be met in a structured family setting.
**A full assessment must be conducted by a specialized clinician prior to being admitted into the Specialized Treatment Foster Care Program.
