The Emergency Shelter is our most secure and highly structured environment of care. It is designed to meet the immediate needs of children who are in crisis, and is available when removal from the home is required to prevent injury or danger to the child or other family members. The Beacon Light Shelter is the only program of its kind in McKean and surrounding counties. The Emergency Shelter facility is licensed for 10 beds, with full video surveillance, a dining room, two classrooms, family visiting rooms, and a gymnasium. The client to staff ratio is never more than 4:1. To access the shelter 24 hours a day, please call 814-362-5248.

Emergency Shelter Care with Treatment

The Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) is a partial hospitalization program available for adolescents who require specialized care and intensive group and individual therapy. This service must be prescribed by a Psychiatrist.  ITP can craft a program to meet any child’s special needs.
